Niche long-duration aesthetics — home of Bellafill, the only FDA-approved 5-year filler

Our verdict

A unique niche play — Bellafill's 5-year FDA-backed durability and acne-scar indication are differentiators no HA line can match, but the small organization, ownership churn under Tiger Aesthetics, and PMMA's unforgiving nature make this a specialty add-on, not a core supplier.

About

Suneva Medical is a San Diego-based aesthetics manufacturer, now part of Tiger Aesthetics Medical, that occupies a distinctive niche: long-duration, collagen-stimulating treatments. Its flagship, Bellafill, is a PMMA-collagen dermal filler and the only filler with FDA approval supported by five-year safety and effectiveness data, indicated for nasolabial folds and — uniquely — moderate to severe atrophic acne scars. The portfolio also includes Silhouette InstaLift resorbable threads for non-surgical lifting.

For med spas, Suneva is not a volume HA supplier; it is a differentiation play. Bellafill lets a practice offer a premium, semi-permanent option to patients tired of annual refills, and the acne-scar indication opens a clinical lane most injectable menus can't touch. The trade-offs are a higher per-syringe cost, required manufacturer training (plus skin testing given the bovine collagen component), and the organizational churn that has come with Suneva's transition under Tiger Aesthetics ownership.

Ideal customer

Established, injector-led med spas and aesthetic practices that want a premium long-duration differentiator — Bellafill for 5-year correction and acne scars, or threads for non-surgical lifting — layered on top of an existing HA and toxin menu.

Our Suneva Medical (Tiger Aesthetics) review

Where Suneva fits

Suneva Medical, the San Diego company now operating under Tiger Aesthetics Medical, is not competing for your everyday syringe volume — it sells differentiation. Bellafill, its PMMA-collagen flagship, is the only filler on the US market with FDA approval backed by five-year safety and effectiveness data, indicated for nasolabial folds and, uniquely among fillers, moderate to severe atrophic acne scars. Alongside it sits Silhouette InstaLift, a resorbable thread system for non-surgical lifting.

For a med spa, that means Suneva is an additive relationship: you keep your HA and toxin vendors, and you add Bellafill to serve two patient types the rest of your menu can't — the correction patient tired of annual refills, and the acne-scar patient most injectable practices currently refer out.

What stands out

The clinical moat is real. 'The only FDA-approved five-year filler' is a claim no HA franchise can answer, and it converts a specific, high-intent patient. The acne-scar indication may be even more valuable commercially: it is an underserved market with strong word-of-mouth, and Bellafill gives you an on-label answer.

The economics per treatment are also compelling. Bellafill's wholesale cost is premium, but retail pricing per session runs well above HA norms, so even modest monthly volume adds meaningful revenue. Because results are semi-permanent, it tends to attract committed patients rather than deal-shoppers, and the threads line lets the same rep relationship support a second high-ticket, non-surgical offer.

Where it falls short

The biggest caveats are organizational and clinical. Suneva is a small company that has been through ownership churn, most recently landing under Tiger Aesthetics Medical. Practices have seen rep turnover and, in some territories, slower account support during the transition — worth pressure-testing with your local rep before committing inventory dollars.

Clinically, PMMA is unforgiving. Unlike HA, Bellafill cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase, so injector skill, conservative technique, and patient selection matter far more than with a routine HA appointment. Suneva gates purchasing behind manufacturer training accordingly, and the bovine collagen component requires a pre-treatment skin test — both sensible, both friction. Onboarding is therefore slower than opening a typical filler account, and the two-product portfolio means Suneva will never consolidate your purchasing. Pricing, as across the category, is rep-negotiated and opaque; model your per-treatment margin explicitly rather than relying on list comparisons.

Who should choose it

Choose Suneva if you have experienced injectors, an established aesthetic patient base, and a strategy of premium differentiation. Bellafill is a genuine menu-expander: it captures long-duration correction patients and opens the acne-scar lane, both at price points that reward even low volume. It is a poor fit for new practices still building core HA competence, for teams without the patience for training and skin-test workflows, or for buyers who need a large, stable vendor organization behind every product. Treat it as a high-margin specialty line from a niche manufacturer in transition — and verify current rep coverage in your territory as part of diligence.

Key features

  • Bellafill PMMA-collagen filler — only FDA-approved 5-year filler
  • FDA indications for nasolabial folds and atrophic acne scars
  • Silhouette InstaLift resorbable lifting threads
  • Collagen-stimulating, semi-permanent mechanism
  • Premium retail price point per treatment
  • Manufacturer-led injector certification

Pricing

Bellafill carries a premium per-syringe wholesale cost negotiated with your rep, offset by a much higher retail price point per treatment. Practice accounts require a licensed prescriber (physician, or NP/PA per state scope rules); Bellafill additionally requires manufacturer training and a pre-treatment skin test due to its bovine collagen component.

Strengths & limitations

Strengths

  • Unique clinical position — no HA competitor can claim 5-year FDA-backed durability
  • Acne-scar indication opens a differentiated, underserved treatment lane
  • High revenue per treatment supports strong practice economics at low volume
  • Threads add a second non-surgical lifting offer from the same rep relationship

Potential limitations

  • Smaller organization with ownership churn — the Tiger Aesthetics transition has meant rep turnover and slower support in places
  • Semi-permanent PMMA is less forgiving than HA (not dissolvable), demanding injector skill and careful patient selection
  • Requires manufacturer training and a pre-treatment skin test, adding onboarding friction
  • Premium acquisition cost and a narrow two-product portfolio
