The strongest pure-esthetician package on the market — $6M individual aggregate, occurrence form and a rich education bundle for $259/yr — but strictly esthetics-scope, with no medical, injectable or entity coverage.

About

Associated Skin Care Professionals (ASCP) is a membership association for estheticians that bundles occurrence-form professional liability insurance with an unusually rich education and business-support package. The organisation reports being trusted by more than 40,000 estheticians, which would make it the largest dedicated esthetician association in the US.

Membership costs $259 per year (or $23 per month) and includes liability insurance with a $6 million individual aggregate per policy year — individual, not shared across the membership pool — and $2 million per occurrence, valid in all 50 states and in any work setting. Around the insurance, members get ASCP Skin Deep magazine, 400+ on-demand webinars and videos, the SkinPro app, business toolkits and 50+ member discounts. ASCP is an association program (the insurance is placed with an underlying carrier, not underwritten by ASCP itself). Scope is firmly esthetics: advanced modalities such as laser/IPL, microblading and RF require a separate Advanced Esthetics policy, and medical/injectable services are outside the program entirely.

Ideal customer

Practising estheticians — employed, booth-renting or mobile — who want strong individual liability limits plus ongoing education in one membership. Suits the esthetics staff of a med spa; does not insure the med spa entity or any medical/injectable services.

Our Associated Skin Care Professionals (ASCP) review

Why ASCP

Associated Skin Care Professionals is the incumbent in esthetician liability, and it earns the position on substance rather than habit. The organisation reports more than 40,000 members — a company figure, but a plausible one given its reach — and its core proposition is hard to beat on paper: $259 a year (or $23 a month) buys occurrence-form professional and general liability with a $6 million individual aggregate per policy year and $2 million per occurrence, valid in all 50 states and in any work setting. Two details matter more than the headline numbers. The aggregate is individual, not shared across the membership pool — a real distinction from some competing association programs. And legal defense costs are paid outside the policy limits, so a drawn-out claim doesn't erode the money available to settle it.

What stands out

The membership wrapper is the differentiator. Where flat-rate insurance programs sell a certificate and little else, ASCP bundles a genuine professional-development stack: 400+ on-demand webinars and videos, the well-regarded ASCP Skin Deep magazine, the SkinPro app, business and career toolkits, free scheduling via PocketSuite and 50+ member discounts. For a working esthetician, the education alone plausibly justifies the fee, making the insurance feel close to free. Pricing is completely transparent, sign-up is straightforward, and coverage follows the member between employment, booth rental and mobile work without location limits.

Watch-outs

Scope is the whole story for a med spa reader. ASCP covers esthetics — facials, peels within esthetician scope, waxing, standard skin care services. It explicitly carves out advanced modalities: laser/IPL, microblading and permanent makeup, radiofrequency and cryolipolysis all require a separate Advanced Esthetics policy at additional cost. Medical and injectable services are outside the program entirely, and there is no entity coverage of any kind — ASCP insures the individual esthetician, not the business, its medical director or its injectors. The underlying carrier is also not prominently named on the sales page, and the site itself notes its insurance descriptions are illustrative, so members should read the actual policy. We found no verifiable third-party review aggregate for ASCP, so we have left ratings empty.

Who it's for

For the esthetics side of a med spa — employed estheticians, booth renters, or the owner's own esthetician licence — ASCP is arguably the best value in the category: the biggest individual aggregate, occurrence form, defense outside limits, and a legitimately useful education bundle, all at a transparent flat price. As med-spa coverage in any fuller sense, it simply isn't in the game, and doesn't claim to be. Use it to cover esthetician-scope practitioners; arrange entity general liability and medical malpractice for injectables through a specialist med-spa broker, and budget for the Advanced Esthetics add-on if your team performs laser or PMU work.
