Why HPSO
HPSO is the answer to a question every multi-discipline med spa eventually asks: NSO covers our nurses, but who covers the esthetician? Healthcare Providers Service Organization is NSO's sister programme under the same Aon administration and CNA carrier family, built for the long tail of allied-health professions rather than nursing licenses specifically. Its Aesthetics Procedures product insures nearly 100 non-surgical aesthetic procedures and — the structurally interesting part — can protect both the individual practitioner and an incorporated business or practice under a single policy.
That single-policy structure is a quietly excellent fit for how much of the aesthetics industry actually operates: the solo esthetician trading through an LLC, the two-chair laser studio, the injectable-adjacent skin clinic that is a business on paper but one or two providers in practice.
What stands out
The coverage stack mirrors the best of the NSO playbook. Professional liability limits run up to $1 million per claim / $3 million annual aggregate, and defence costs are paid separately, so legal fees do not erode the limit that actually pays a settlement. Licensure defence expenses up to $25,000 address the most common real-world event for aesthetics providers — a board or licensing complaint rather than a lawsuit.
The bundled extras are unusually rich for policies at this end of the market: HIPAA breach assistance with up to $25,000 in patient-notification expenses, subpoena assistance at $10,000 aggregate, proceeding expense reimbursement at $1,000 per day, assault coverage, media event expenses and abuse-and-molestation coverage up to $25,000 (not available in New York). For a treatment business handling client photos, records and intimate procedures, several of those are more than box-ticking.
Buying is a standard online quote-and-apply flow, and the programme sits on Aon and CNA infrastructure, which means an experienced claims operation rather than a thinly staffed niche broker.
Watch-outs
The same caveat as its sibling applies, with emphasis: this is provider-and-small-firm professional liability, not a med-spa facility programme. A genuine med spa — with devices, premises, employees and a medical director — still needs entity-level general liability, property and, in most cases, a separate entity malpractice policy. HPSO's aesthetics product will not do that job on its own. Pricing is not published anywhere on the site, so comparison shopping requires collecting quotes, and several of the bundled coverages are state-dependent, so the certificate in Texas may not match the one in New York. We found no verifiable third-party aggregate ratings for the programme; that is normal for affinity insurance but leaves buyers reliant on the carrier's reputation rather than reviews.
Who it's for
Estheticians, laser technicians and other non-nurse aesthetics professionals who need their own malpractice coverage — especially those operating through a small incorporated business who want practitioner and firm wrapped into one policy. For med-spa owners, HPSO is the natural companion recommendation alongside NSO: nurses to one programme, estheticians and allied providers to the other, with a proper entity policy over the top. Within its provider-level lane, it is one of the strongest and most aesthetics-literate options available.
