Why Marine Agency
Few vendors in the med-spa insurance market can claim a longer institutional memory than Marine Agency Corp. The agency was founded in 1922 in New York City and has specialised in day-spa and personal-care risks since 1975 — decades before 'medical spa' was a category. Today it runs a dedicated Laser & MediSpa program alongside its other beauty and body-art specialty lines.
Structurally, Marine Agency is an independent agency, not a risk-bearing carrier: it underwrites your application and places the risk with insurance carriers it does not publicly name. As with any brokered program, ask which carrier will actually sit on your policy — and its AM Best rating — before binding; we could not verify carrier identity or ratings from public materials.
What stands out
The program is a sensible, complete package for a mainstream med spa. Professional (malpractice) liability covers treatment risk from Botox, dermal fillers and laser services; general liability picks up slip-and-fall and products exposures; property coverage and optional business interruption protect the physical clinic and its income. Two inclusions are genuinely uncommon and genuinely useful. First, off-site services coverage — if your injectors run 'Botox parties' or pop-up events outside the clinic, most standard policies leave you exposed; Marine Agency's program contemplates it explicitly. Second, independent-contractor coverage, which matters in an industry where injectors and laser techs frequently work 1099 across several locations.
For a straightforward aesthetics practice — injectables, lasers, skin treatments — this is a well-shaped program from an agency that has been writing this class of business longer than most competitors have existed.
Watch-outs
Geography is the hard limitation: coverage is written in the 48 contiguous states plus Washington, DC. Med spas in Alaska or Hawaii need to look elsewhere. Pricing is entirely quote-based, with no published rates or indicative 'from' figures, and the quoting flow is a traditional request-and-respond process rather than the instant online quoting some rivals now offer.
The program's appetite also reads narrower than the most aggressive specialists. Public materials centre on injectables and lasers; there is no advertised cyber or HIPAA defense coverage, and none of the semaglutide/weight-loss, IV-therapy or hormone niches that firms like WMPG court. A practice drifting into medical wellness should confirm appetite early. Finally, there are no verifiable third-party aggregate ratings of the agency, so service quality rests on its long track record rather than public reviews.
Who it's for
Marine Agency suits single-location and small-group med spas in the lower 48 with a classic aesthetics menu — Botox, fillers, lasers — especially those running off-site events or staffed with independent contractors, where its two signature inclusions do real work. It's a solid, seasoned choice at the traditional end of the specialist pack; practices with heavier wellness menus, cyber/HIPAA concerns, or a need for instant quotes will find broader or faster options among our higher-scored specialists.
