Why OpenLoop
OpenLoop is not a med-spa recruiter, and it does not pretend to be. It is the staffing and operations engine behind a large slice of US telehealth: a company-reported network of 20,000+ state-licensed clinicians — nurse practitioners, physician assistants and physicians — available across all 50 states, wrapped in an NCQA-accredited network with licensing, credentialing, scheduling, payroll and malpractice coverage handled in-house. The company reports powering around 500k patient visits per month across 30+ specialties for the digital-health brands it serves.
Why does that matter to a med spa? Because the fastest-growing corners of aesthetics and wellness — GLP-1 weight management, hormone optimisation, virtual consults and follow-ups, multi-state membership brands — are effectively telehealth businesses, and they run into exactly the problems OpenLoop was built to solve: finding licensed prescribers in every state you operate, keeping credentials current, and putting compliant medical direction over the top.
What stands out
The completeness of the stack is the differentiator. Most staffing firms hand you a candidate; OpenLoop hands you an employed, licensed, credentialed, insured clinician on a managed schedule, with payroll run and malpractice covered. Its Chief Medical Officer services are particularly relevant to MSO-model med-spa groups, where scaled, defensible medical direction across states is a chronic headache. Company-reported staffing turnarounds are concrete, if unaudited: about a week for lab ordering and approvals, three weeks for primary care or family medicine, five to seven weeks for specialty roles. Add-ons such as the white-label technology platform and payer coverage (600+ plans, per the company) mean a group can effectively rent an entire virtual-care operation under its own brand.
Watch-outs
The fit caveats are real. OpenLoop staffs telehealth clinicians; it does not place in-person injectors, laser nurses or front-of-house aestheticians, which is most of a traditional med spa's hiring. Pricing is enterprise-shaped and entirely quoted — there is no rate card, and engagements bundle staffing with operational services, so a single-location spa needing one part-time medical director will likely find the commercial model oversized. Turnaround for specialty coverage (5–7 weeks, company-reported) rules it out for urgent gaps. And while the company's scale claims are impressive, there are no verifiable third-party ratings aggregates for its B2B services, so due diligence should include client references from healthcare businesses of your size and shape.
Who it's for
Think of OpenLoop as an opportunistic infrastructure play rather than a med-spa staffing agency. A multi-state med-spa or wellness group adding telehealth-delivered weight management, a membership brand that needs prescribers licensed in twenty states, or an MSO seeking scaled medical direction will find a purpose-built partner that generalist recruiters cannot match. A single-site spa hiring nurses for the treatment room should look elsewhere. Scored honestly for this category: excellent platform capability, credible support model, mediocre pricing transparency, and a med-spa fit that is situational — strong for telehealth-enabled groups, marginal for everyone else.
