ActiveCampaign is a general-purpose marketing-automation and CRM platform that some med spas adopt for email/SMS nurture and pipeline tracking — powerful, but not built for aesthetics workflows.

Enterprise CRM power for med spas willing to invest in configuration
An immensely powerful and customizable enterprise CRM that a large aesthetics group with technical resources can tailor to almost anything — but it is heavy, expensive, and overkill for most med spas, with no aesthetics features out of the box.
Salesforce is the world's leading enterprise CRM, spanning Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and the healthcare-oriented Health Cloud. Its strength is near-limitless customization: with enough configuration, it can model almost any business process, automate complex workflows, unify customer data, and report on it in depth. A large multi-location aesthetics group with a dedicated operations or admin team could, in theory, build a tailored lead-management and patient-relationship system on top of it that few other CRMs could match.
For the typical med spa, however, that power is the problem. Salesforce ships as a blank, general-purpose platform — there is no booking, no clinical charting, no consent forms, and no aesthetics templates without significant build-out or third-party apps. Pricing is per user and climbs quickly, and most practices need a consultant or admin to configure and maintain it. It is genuinely overkill for a single-location spa. We include it because some larger groups do use it, but the vast majority of clinics will find a purpose-built med spa platform faster, cheaper, and far better suited to their actual work.
Ideal customer
Large, multi-location aesthetics groups with a dedicated admin or operations team and the budget to configure and maintain an enterprise CRM — not single-location or small spas.
Salesforce is the enterprise CRM standard, and it earns that reputation honestly — but it is a general business platform, not a med spa system. It can model almost any process you can describe, from intricate lead pipelines to full patient-relationship management via Health Cloud, provided you have the people and budget to build it. The med spas that genuinely benefit are large, multi-location groups with a dedicated admin or operations team who want a single, deeply customized hub for sales, marketing, and customer data across many sites.
For everyone else, Salesforce is the wrong tool. It ships effectively blank: no booking, no clinical charting, no consent forms, no aesthetics templates. Every med-spa concept has to be configured or bought through the AppExchange. We review it because some big groups do run on it, but most clinics should read this as a caution as much as a recommendation — the power here comes with weight that small practices simply don't need.
Capability is the headline, and it is enormous. Salesforce's customization and automation are essentially unmatched: its Flow engine, custom objects, and reporting let a skilled admin build exactly the workflow a complex operation requires. Reporting and dashboards are deep enough to satisfy demanding multi-location analytics. The AppExchange ecosystem and robust APIs mean it integrates with nearly anything, and Health Cloud adds genuine patient-relationship structure for organizations that need it. Enterprise security and reliability are best-in-class. Third-party ratings sit around 4.4 on both Capterra and G2 across tens of thousands of reviews — a testament to how well it serves large, sophisticated buyers.
The drawbacks are exactly what you'd expect from enterprise software pointed at small clinics. The learning curve is steep, and most practices need a paid admin or consultant just to configure and maintain it — an ongoing cost beyond the subscription. Pricing is high and per user (roughly $25 to $330 per user per month before add-ons), and real-world totals climb further with implementation, extra clouds, and integrations, which also hurts pricing transparency. Critically, there is no native med spa functionality: no scheduling, charting, or consents, so even a well-built Salesforce org still needs separate clinical and booking systems. For a single-location or small spa, the platform is simply overkill — far more system than the business can justify.
Choose Salesforce only if you are a large or fast-scaling group with the technical resources, budget, and appetite to build a custom CRM, and you value limitless flexibility over out-of-the-box fit. Single-location and small med spas should look elsewhere: a purpose-built aesthetics platform will be cheaper, faster to launch, and far better matched to clinical reality. Salesforce is powerful, but for most of this market it is the wrong kind of powerful.
