Why WMPG
Every med-spa owner who has added semaglutide, NAD+ drips or hormone pellets to the menu knows the phone call: your existing insurer politely declines to cover the new service. Wellness Medical Protection Group (WMPG) — the independent agency behind MedispaCover, established in 2001 — has built its entire business on saying yes to exactly those procedures. Its standing is easy to triangulate: it is a Platinum Vendor Affiliate of AmSpa and one of the association's two named insurance partners, which in this industry is about as strong an endorsement as exists.
Structurally, WMPG is an independent agency, not a risk-bearing carrier. It underwrites your application and places the risk across multiple carriers it doesn't publicly name, describing them only as A+ rated — a company claim we could not independently verify, so ask for the specific carrier and its AM Best rating at quote time.
What stands out
The appetite is the story. Beyond core entity and provider professional liability plus general liability, WMPG's underwriting is procedure-driven and reaches into territory most markets refuse: medical weight loss and semaglutide, IV infusions, PRP, HCG, BHRT and pellet insertion, ketamine-assisted therapy, stem cell and exosome work, and integrative medicine. It will also cover fully mobile operations — IV, Botox and weight loss with no fixed premises — which is genuinely rare.
The service wrapper is unusually practical. AmSpa members get a free risk analysis producing a personalised "what I need" coverage report, there's a consent-form template library, and licensed-agent consultations are free. Quoting runs through the Juno Insure online platform with instant-quote capability for standard risks, and premium financing (15% down, ten instalments through First Insurance Funding) softens the cash-flow hit of an annual premium.
Watch-outs
Pricing is opaque. There is no rate card; everything is underwritten per procedure, startups face minimum annual premiums, and there are explicitly no part-time rates — a hobbyist injector will pay like a business. The firm reports licensure in 35+ states, so confirm availability where you operate. Carrier identity is undisclosed until you're in the process, and there are no verifiable third-party ratings of the agency itself, so service quality rests on reputation and the AmSpa relationship rather than public review volume. Self-reported superlatives on its site ("largest med spa insurance agency in the U.S.") should be read as marketing.
Who it's for
WMPG is the first call for practices whose menu has outgrown mainstream markets: weight-loss programmes, IV lounges, hormone and longevity clinics, ketamine practices, mobile med spas, and hybrid wellness-aesthetics operations. AmSpa members get tangible extra value through the free risk analysis and partner pathway. A plain-vanilla Botox-and-filler studio can be well served here too, but has more alternatives; it's on the hard-to-place risks that WMPG is close to irreplaceable.
